36 Days of Type: Inspired by The White Lotus
After deciding to take a different creative direction for 2023 edition of this challenge, this years edition is inspired by patterns, textiles, and motifs seen throughout seasons 1 and 2 of The White Lotus on HBO Max.
36 Days of Type is a project that invites designers, illustrators and graphic artists to express their particular interpretation of the letter and numbers of the Latin alphabet.
Each letter is created digitally and drawn by hand using the Procreate app for the iPad.
A look inside my process
I used Pinterest as a hub for inspiration when it came to finding various patterns and textiles seen throughout the show. Prior to the start of the challenge, I had a well-curated Pinterest board that I could pick and choose from for each letter.
Like most of my lettering and illustration work, I always start with a rough sketch in Procreate. This helps me quickly visualize the composition and lay down the structure of the letterform. After the rough sketch is complete, it’s all about creating layers for the various objects within the composition.
